Competencies

On this page I will briefly touch the competency areas in general and elaborate on my specialization competencies, see the links at the right side as well.

Creativity and Aesthetics

This competency is mainly developed in de Bachelors' program, where I participated in the few design electives with pleasure, such as "Exploratory Sketching' and 'Unfolding Memories’ (where I received a 9). A not adjusted page from my bachelors program, an be entered here.
In the masters I participated in the elective 'Visual Experience Design', where I learned to use and combine specific tools to create attractive visuals, communicating design. Furthermore, my design skills in the master are mainly related to materials to execute and present research which can be seen on the pages of the projects or the page 'Design & Research Processes'.

Technology and Realisation

During the bachelor’s program, I followed different courses on technology and realization, while in the master’s program, much time is spent on research. In the design project REINFORC3D, I developed programmed patterns which I printed with the 3D printer, aiming for flexible but supportive materials for a sports bra.
In my FMP, together with help from E-lab, I developed the draft for the electronics of the prototypes, then further soldered everything myself, information can be found in the report on page 24-25.
When it comes to the demonstrater of the FMP, the VRtalight, it is clearly appreciated as well by the participants as well as by external experts. Prof. dr. Wijnand IJsselsteijn is involved as external expert and will provide official feedback on the project and is also enhousiastic about the outcomes, in his case the light is increasing the level of experienced presence and reality.
Also there is a serious interest of GGzE and Nationale Nederlanden, they really value the VRtalight. More about that at the page 'Business & Entrepreneurship' page.

Math, Data en Computing

In the master's design project REINFORC3D, I was responsible for developing code to create certain patterns, by programs as Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, a plugin from Rhinoceros. I also created a measurement system which was automized to take measurements of an implemented body scan. In my FMP, I also learned to use and analyze data from by a spectrometer, measuring different qualities of light. For further information regarding data analysis, I would refer to the page of Design & Research Processes.
